Description

This research is automated and may contain errors.

21/01/2000 Pillbox, no specification, referred to as a blockhouse. It is assumed (by recorder) that this blockhouse, which has now been demolished, was of similar design to the one that still exists on the N side of the lane (UORN 9113, SO 86575311). This is a square, brick built structure with embrasures facing the road and an entrance on the E side.

There is a gap in the hedge now used as a field access point that may have been the site of the now demolished structure. Information from a Home Guard map, dated December 1940, held by the Worcester and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Office at Norton Barracks.
