01/1997 Wooden poles were erected across the meadow on a grid pattern as an anti-air landing deterrent, at an estimated interval of 100ft. (Some poles taken from these defences survive as fence supports at the S end (E side) of Pershore old bridge. 07/11/1941 The shadows of some anti-landing poles appear to show in air photograph.
